going to post this as a public post since it's very generic and so people into needlepoint crafts can find it if they want. i posted this to craftster.org which i joined this weekend as another means of feeding my current obsession with cross stitch.

the image is a black & white picture of my first ever counted cross stitch project and the first of any kind of cross stitch that i've done since late junior high and into high school. back then i tried my hand at a pretty large music related stamped cross stitch kit and messed it up horribly since i was very new to cross stitch in general. this one came out a lot better.

the real colors are:
background fabric = beige
main design = red with black for the character
the background smaller characters are tan with brown border to help them stand out.
the straight line borders are a mixture of gold, black and red threads.

i'll try to post a color image later if i remember to take a picture with my digital camera.

so, for the first time in a while i left my little sphere of comfort and went to visit peoples. which peoples? Mike, Zurlo and Kevin! whyfore? well, funny you should ask. See, there was this happenin shindig called a birthday party and fun would be had. this, was the making of an adventure fo sho. a) never did the amtrak thing b) had only really been in 30th street station in Philly once or twice and not for travel of my own and c) any travel is an adventure.

anywho, back to work with me. had a blast this weekend and it was nice getting out and about. was also nice to come home to my sweetie. oh yea and the Eagles won which totally roxors for the season opener. E A G L E S EAGLES! Alex heads to Vegas this week to celebrate his 21st. this means that I need to hop to it and get his birthday present and plan something for this weekend when he gets back. =D

one random note from yesterday...

i had to travel up to the jersey city office to meet the staff that's part of my group within the company. long ass drive, but interesting nontheless. on the up there i noticed that there was a lot of merging goin on all over the place or so it seemed anyway. on the way home, i witnessed some extremely strange merge designs. so i'm toolin down the nj turnpike and for most of the trip there's a car only express highway right next to a trucks and other large vehicles section for each direction. no big deal. well, as ya close in toward where the pa turnpike intersects, the two separate highways merge. normally this wouldn't be too strange because it's just a larger version of an elongated on ramp in some ways.

weeeeell, i'm go through this in the far left lane at this point and at one point there are signs for the far outside lanes to merge inward. ok, seems normal. a little bit later there's what appears to be a random merge sign in the middle of the highway. oh no no, it's not random. there was all kinds of traffic built up at this point because some douche designed the road so that two MIDDLE lanes merge. yea... THAT's a safe idea. @_@

after yesterday's trip, i've declared jersey a land of merging. =p

at least my job does this thing where people bring in bagles friday morning and we're allowed to wear jeans instead of business casual. it's about the only comfort i've got right now.

it's been an interesting few days. went into work on thursday to catch up with the guy that's going to be out this coming week and to see what paperwork i still needed. wound up havin lunch with the office coordinator and my usual crew and then took home what i've named "the big box o employment" because it's this giant box of paperwork to read and/or sign, info on benefits, a t-shirt and a pen. =p

got home, checked a bunch of junk on my WoW characters and passed out for a nap for an hour before Alex called to pick me up for dinner and the concert.

the concert we went to was so geeky but so awesome. it was called "Play! A Video Game Symphony" and was all video game music but all orchestral and it kicked so much ass. a bunch of final fantasy music was played along with a Super Mario Bros medley, a Sonic medley, Halo, and World of Warcraft. I have some of the WoW music on CD but damn... that music is so much better live.

wound up goin down the shore with Alex friday morning. we got back saturday afternoon. walking from his aunt's house to the beach with no shoes on was a bad idea. i wound up with some big blisters on my feet. however, Alex and i got boogie boards and had some fun riding waves. got a little sunburn on my pastey skin but it's not too horrific. it was nice to get away for a bit.

tonight we're goin to see Clerks II. hopefully we can hit the mall before it as i need a couple more pairs of pants for work and probably a couple more shirts. i might try to find a new pair of shoes too, though the ones i have are still good and comfortable. maybe i'll see what's in the store and then hit up Payless's website to see if they still have the style of shoes i've been using for work.

so.... remember how i had that internship for 2 weeks and there was the potential for me to get hired full time but my boss had to get a position approved. well, i had 2 weeks middle to end of august i was coming in as a contractor and then they added a third week at the tail end of july and into august. considering it went from 2 weeks to 3 weeks i was encouraged that yes indeed i might actually be brought in full time. got a call from teh new boss today. i'll be starting full time on July 31st with a salary slightly higher than what i'd gotten before. (only 1k higher) that salary was given based on the fact that i don't have a ton of experience behind me but that i could wind up with an increase at the end of the year if i prove myself worthy. yay! i'm thinkin... at least it's a job and an income. probably wont be able to get a house like i wanted to but eh, s'ok. i'll probably stay here one more year with Alex hopefully moving in once he gets a job after graduation. should wind up being plenty of income to save up for a house at that point.
