have i ever mentioned how much i hate the built in windows cd burning utility? well now i have... i hate that built in cd burning shit windows provides. something is fucked up and it won't allow burning on our test machines for this build. this is a BIG problem considering this is how the majority of our users backup their files now... with the exception of a few people who swallow craploads of floppies. -_-

Mike and i have now spent the majority of the afternoon trying to fix this issue... without finding a solution. the build needs to go out on Monday. -_-

Did you check the speed that it is set up to burn? I've noticed problems with it, I have to use a lower speed in order for it to work properly.

it's not a burn speed problem. windows burning tool blows and the wizard wouldn't even recognize that a blank cd was in it. why they're not just letting people use Roxio which COMES WITH the machines, is beyond me. Mike later found out, without bothering to tell me he found out why it wasn't working (i found out while the CIO of the IT department and others were looking at the build to approve it) that XP Service Pack 2 breaks that burning utility for some model burners.

yah. when he announced that while the CIO was taking a look at the build, i nearly died. but considering how Blizzard screws up stuff when they release new content in the various patchs on World of Warcraft... it doesn't surprise me =p
